Conferences

“The winds are changing. The horizon is expanding. The opportunity is real.”

As we begin planning for the 2027 CALEP Conference in Victoria, British Columbia, we find ourselves reflecting not only on where our industry is today, but on where it could go next.

Canada’s energy sector has always been defined by capable people, resourcefulness and resilience. Through changing markets, evolving technologies, regulatory complexity and shifting global priorities, our industry has continued to adapt and deliver. Today, there is a renewed sense of possibility: an opportunity for Canadian energy to grow, gain better access to world markets and provide more responsibly produced energy to people around the globe.

Why “Raising the Sails”?

Victoria, with its Pacific setting and strong maritime character, gave us the perfect image for the road ahead. For sailors, raising the sails is an act of preparation and confidence. It means recognizing the wind, choosing a direction and moving forward together.

We believe that same idea speaks directly to Canadian energy. Canada has world-class resources, talented professionals, innovative companies and a strong record of operational and environmental performance. As new pathways to global markets open, our industry has an opportunity to build on those strengths and play an even greater role in the world’s energy future.

That is the spirit behind Raising the Sails: optimistic, forward-looking and grounded in the belief that our best opportunities are still ahead of us.

A Conference Built Around Ideas and People

Our goal is to create a conference that looks confidently toward the future. The program will bring together leaders, innovators, land and energy professionals, commercial experts and changemakers to explore Canada’s investment potential, global competitiveness, leadership, Indigenous engagement, emerging technology, infrastructure and the evolving role of our profession.

Just as importantly, the CALEP Conference has always been about people. Some of the most valuable moments happen between sessions, over coffee, during activities and social events, and while reconnecting with colleagues and friends. Those relationships are one of the great strengths of the CALEP community, and we want Victoria to provide the setting for both meaningful conversations and a lot of fun.

We are incredibly fortunate to be supported by a committee that brings energy, experience and humour to the planning table. The team is already asking great questions, testing new ideas and helping us build an experience that members will be proud to attend.
