Who:

Those requiring an in-depth understanding of the practical interpretation and administration of common and complicated contract provisions.

What:

This course is designed for negotiating landmen, land administrators and all industry personnel charged with directing, drafting, and/or administering land contracts. The course will provide insights into the mechanics and practical interpretation of contract provisions relative to matters that arise throughout the life of an active contract. Standard and emerging industry agreements, as well as the current CAPL procedures, will be addressed in the context of this course.

Instructor(s):

Lenni Werner-Schmidt, BSc-BM

Lenni Werner-Schmidt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and is the Land Manager at Convega Energy Ltd. She has held several senior roles in land management, negotiations, A&D and administration at major, mid-size and junior companies. As a member of CAPL since 1981, she has served as a Director on the CAPL Board and contributed to in-house and industry committees that have furthered the evolution of the CAPL standard precedent forms. She has written and conducted in-house seminars for a variety of oil and gas companies on contract interpretation and procedural mineral land practices. Lenni authored the 2014 revised curriculum materials for and been the instructor of the Property Transfer, Operating and Farmout portions of the Land Agreements course at Mount Royal University.
